EFT
We are very pleased & excited to let you know that we can now offer another very powerful treatment to our services since I have become qualified as an EFT Practitioner..........and accepted as a member of AAMET (Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques).........Joy Wood MAAMET
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is Meridian Energy Therapy and is a very useful tool especially when used with hypnosis.
EFT is very good at getting quick and immediate results with many problems such as anger, anxiety, sleep deprivation, pain, addictions, fears and phobias, weight/ food issues, confidence and many many more.
EFT works in the same way as acupuncture in that it works directly on the meridian system in the body. However, you, the client will tap with two fingers for 7-10 times on various points on the body while incorporating a statement which focuses on the problem.
EFT works in a direct way with the negative emotion, and the principle is that when an upsetting or distressing memory, feeling or thought occurs, it disrupts the body's energy pathways and causes a build up in a particular emotion or causes a blockage. So instead of using needles to stimulate the major meridian points you can release them by tapping on them gently.
By bringing attention, physically and mentally, to the different emotions and feelings which reside in different energy pathways in the body, the increased awareness of these points makes it easier for those emotions and feeling to emerge to the surface, gently disperse and disappear. The results are usually instant, leaving you with full relief or partial releif (depending on the issue) from the symptoms or feelings.
EFT is also taught as a self help tool during the session enabling you to assess relaxation and giving you the control.
Sessions are 60-90 mins @ £55.00 per session (same rate as Hypnotherapy)

June 26th.....Working therapeutically with M.E. & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Working as a private practioner is a real priviledge as it enables us to be in contact with people from all sorts of backgrounds, cultures and beliefs. In order to respond appropriatley to individuals concerns and distress we are also continually attending CPD (Continuing Personal Development) training and workshops which is also for our own professional growth and advancement. Engaging in regular supervision ensures we are competent to work with a wide variety of issues.
In addition to this and equally importantly, we are also constantly learning from our individual clients themselves.......this can be both a most insightful and humbling experience.
In recent times I have had the privilege of working with a particulary courageous and lovely woman. The effects of her suffering a brain tumor and subsequent M.E illness have taught me that compassion can never be understated. I have learned from her experiences that the ignorance which exsists around the illness of M.E is shocking and I am so pleased that she chose me to be her therapist and in doing so, educate me about a most misunderstood condition, M.E......how did I learn?.....simply by listening!......we can all do that ....you dont have to be a professional, a counsellor/therapist to do this...partners, family, friends, collegues, neighbours, aquaintances.....listen....and you can then all do your part in their healing...because as I have learnt , by not doing so you can actually exacerbate their condition due to the lack of compassion, care and understanding....surley as human beings this is the 'business' we all in............
Here my client has kindly written about her personal and therapeutic experiences and has given her permission to publish it
M.E. + Agorophobia and Panic AttacksMrs Y Garrard, Bournemouth
"Thank you Joy, for helping me to turn my life around. For 5 years I have had serious M.E. following the removal of a brain tumour. I had 5 nervous breakdowns that kept putting me back to bed for a year and then 3 years mainly housebound with constant headaches, dizziness and pain everywhere. I had dreadful agorophobia and panic attacks if I tried to go outside.
The isolation and loneliness was depressing as friends and family just got on with their lives and the medical profession could offer no help at all. Since that first nervous phone call things have really changed, it turned out I had a whole lot of issues from way back that were never dealt with, I never had anyone to turn to.
You have helped me come to terms with a whole lot of personal past pressures in a relaxed and caring atmosphere. Sometimes counselling got difficult so it was followed by a hypnotherapy for calming and relaxing and best of all inner peace.
Over time, I now have a life, cheerful and positive with more energy. At last I can seek out more interesting and fun courses outside the house. There is a positive future and at last, fun too. What a turnaround - unbelievable!
Why did I wait so long to talk to somebody, I am very fortunate to have met you, Joy. Thank you again for your patience with a deep understanding and kindness."
June 2012
2nd April
Here's something for you to think about. Imagine that you win the lottery this weekend. . . "FANTASTIC" I hear you shout, but will all that money make you truly happy? For so many people it has changed their lives forever, but can that initial happiness be maintained?
Most people will probably spend the first six months to a year making quite drastic life changes, give up your job, new house, new cars, holidays to those faraway places you always dreamed of, but what then? Take a few minutes to think about it.
You don't see your work mates any more, people who have been friends for years, you just don't move in the same circle now, besides most of them will be very jealous and probably don't really want to see you any more You have moved away from your neighbours into that big new house miles away. Sure, you will probably have some new friends, but do they really like you for yourself or because you have money?
I guess the real question is what does happiness really mean to you, to define your own idea of happiness think of occasions when you have felt really good, think of your finest hour, how did that feel for you? What was it that made you feel so good? After all you didn't have all that lottery money then.
Of course it gives us pleasure to be able to buy things we want, but that pleasure is fleeting, real happiness comes from within us, it is our right and our choice how we feel. By making small changes in our thought patterns and changing the way we view things around us, looking at things in a positive way and not dwelling on the negatives our whole life can be transformed.
In the words of the song, "it's not having what you want, it's wanting what you have"
March 15th
Now March is here it is significant that the sun is shining and Spring is in the air. In nature there is new growth all around us as colourful and beautiful flowers begin to bud, there's blossom on trees and our gardens are starting to exuberate New Life. Maybe it's time for all of us to stop and think about our own personal growth that will develop our own inner beauty and how we are going to achieve this.

The Easy and Permanent Way to Lose Weight.
Did you know that hypnotherapy is the easiest and most effective way to lose weight? There is no dieting, no starving yourself, no bland tasting supplement drinks, no embarrassing weigh-ins. Hypnotherapy works by helping you to change the way you think about food and changing your eating habits permanently, whether you have stones to lose or just that last few pounds that is so difficult to shift.
Quit Smoking the easy way with Hypnotherapy
Like most smokers, you have probably quit smoking several times already. For most people quitting is the easy part, the hard part is not starting again. Hypnotherapy works because it changes the way you think about cigarettes, it helps you to 'unlearn' the habit that has been part of your life for so long. Hypnotherapy is the perfectly safe and sensible option, there are no patches to stick on, no pills or lozenges to swallow, just a simple, but permanent change in the way you think.
For those who smoke an average 20 cigarettes a day, that equates to around £35 per week, £150 per month or £1,800 per year!
With our unique treatment plan at a cost of only £125 you are making a financial saving straight away and can start to enjoy so many physical benefits:
- Being able to breathe easier, not getting out of breath with exertion.
- Reduced risk of life threatening diseases/heart attacks.
- Improved circulation, bringing improved muscle and skin tone.
- Taste buds regrow, sense of taste and smell improve.
- Your clothes, hair and hands don't continually smell of smoke.
- Increased sex drive and better sleeping pattern.
All these health benefits as well as the financial benefit of not paying out ££££££££'s to endanger your own life!
So, why wait any longer, call now on 01202 303722 and start saving for your new healthy life.

Many people suffer daily because of a fear or phobia, embarrassed to tell friends or colleagues, making excuses to avoid certain places or situations, afraid of ridicule, which often makes the problem worse. So, if you are dreading the holiday season because you are afraid of flying, terrified of spiders or snakes, missing out on this glorious weather because of your fear of the great outdoors, or hundreds of other recognised phobias (whatever it is, you are not alone and it probably has a medical name), why not give us a call now on 01202 303722 for a friendly, confidential chat to discuss your particular concern or make an appointment today and release yourself from whatever is holding you back.
Control your pain and improve the quality of your life
The ability to control your own pain, either long term, short term or chronic pain can make an amazing difference to your quality of life. By learning to simply and easily reduce the level of your pain you can claim back some of that control over everyday tasks that are currently so difficult for you. Greater mobility means you can be more independant, better sleep patterns can enormously improve your general health and wellbeing as well as helping to reduce stress and anxiety.
Hypnotherapy can be extremely helpful for so many types of pain from migraine to arthritis, from dental treatment to post-operative recovery, from back pain to general aches and strains.
A word of warning.Pain is a message from the brain to let us know that there is a problem and should never be removed completely as there may be a danger of causing further damage if we become unaware of that problem. Any pain should be diagnosed by a qualified medical professional before hypnotherapy can take place.
