This is a specialist area of hypnotherapy which merits a little explanation. Pain is basically a message from the brain to let you know that there is a problem somewhere in your body and as such should not be ignored. If you stub your toe or cut your finger it is obvious what is causing the pain and it can be easily dealt with, but if the cause is unknown, then it should always be properly diagnosed by a suitably qualified medical professional before any treatment can be determined.
Within hypnotherapy, there are many tried and tested methods of reducing the amount of pain that is experienced and these can be particularly beneficial to long term and chronic sufferers. Giving you a degree of control over the pain can be very empowering and help to enhance your quality of life, often restoring your confidence to do things that you had given up on.
Hypnotherapy can also be very useful in coping with the anxiety of anticipated pain such as surgery or perhaps dental treatment. By learning how to control the level of pain through self hypnosis the anxiety will be reduced, leaving you much more calm and relaxed and it is also proven to reduce recovery time after the procedure.
There are many different models and theories of counselling, from the currently popular CBT, (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) through Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamic and Client Centred Therapy to name but a few. Many counsellors tend to favour one or maybe two of these models, but at Swanstherapy we regard every client as an individual, with their own unique set of experiences and we feel very stongly that the treatment should be adapted to fit the client and not the other way round. With this as our main criteria, we use many different models, often utilising differing techniques with the same client to best reach a resolution of the problem. We also suggest integrating hypnotherapy into the counselling sessions if we feel it would be of benefit and from experience we find that this can have excellent results.
Once an initial assessment has been made during your first visit, a timescale will always be discussed with you. The number of sessions required will depend on the nature and depth of the problem to be addressed.
Hypnotherapy issues can usually be effectively resolved in three to four sessions, with the more complicated issues occasionally taking longer, but usually no more than six sessions. Occasionally, secondary issues arise during the treatment and again these will be fully discussed with you and the timescale revised as necessary.
With counselling we normally recommend a minimum of six sessions due to the different nature of the therapy, after which we will make an assessment of progress and discuss any further treatment with you.
Our standard charge for the first 60 to 90 minute session is at a reduced rate of £35, which will include a thorough assessment, a realistic look at your goals and how to achieve them, and an explanation of any proposed treatment. For hypnotherapy treatment this also includes an introductory hypnotherapy session relevant to your specific needs.
Subsequent appointments are charged at £55 per session for hypnotherapy and £40 per session for counselling/psychotherapy. Counselling and Hypnotherapy sessions are normally 50 mins to 1 hour and will include a review and feedback from the previous session leading to a specially tailored, personalised treatment based on this information.
Relationship/Couples Coaching (two people attending together) all sessions at £50 per 50 mins to 1 hour.
EFT sessions are 60 - 90mins at a fee of £55
Our unique 'Quit Smoking' programme is for an initial 2 hour session plus a follow up consolidation session supporting you with any lifestyle changes this may bring and ensure the treatment is permanent. Priced at £125 and must be booked at least 3 days in advance.
We do offer a limited number of consessionary rates for long term therapeutic work, students and clients with a limited income, which are always at our discretion. Reduced fees will only be discussed and agreed upon within the first initial session and you may need to provide proof of your financial situation.
Missed Appointments/Cancellations Policy
Please be aware that missed appointments are charged at the normal rate unless 48 hours notice is given, (we will accept 24 hours notice in exceptional circumstances). This is necessary because we have usually put time and effort into preparing for your session and without enough notice we cannot arrange for another client to fill your appointment time. However, in most cases we will reduce the cost of your next appointment by 50%.
